National figures released in 2010 show 15 to 24 year olds and more so women continue to be the most affected group of sexually transmitted diseases.
Last year around two thirds of new diagnosed STI’s in women were from under 25’s. Compare that with just over half of new diagnosed STI’s in men were from the same age category.
The age peaks are between 19 to 20 year olds for females and 22 to 23 year olds for males. But the most startling statistic is, 1 in 10 of all new diagnosed STI’s in 15 to 24 year-olds will become re infected within a year.
